Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture, capillary draws, and specialized blood collection procedures
- Process and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis ensuring chain-of-custody integrity
- Maintain accurate patient records and specimen labeling systems
- Operate and troubleshoot laboratory equipment including centrifuges and analyzers
- Train junior technicians on phlebotomy best practices and safety protocols
- Implement infection control procedures and HIPAA compliance measures
- Collaborate with physicians and lab staff for specimen collection optimization
Qualifications
- Current Texas Phlebotomy Technician certification (CPT) required
- Minimum 2 years clinical phlebotomy experience
- BLS/CPR certification from American Heart Association
- Exceptional venipuncture skills with minimal callbacks
- Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
- Experience with LIS systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner)
- Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced environments
- Pass background check and drug screening
