Responsibilities
- Assess patient symptoms and prioritize emergency cases using advanced triage protocols
- Coordinate with physicians, specialists, and ancillary departments for streamlined patient flow
- Implement Alaska-specific healthcare regulations and emergency response standards
- Train and mentor junior triage staff on best practices and critical decision-making
- Document patient encounters with precision in EMR systems
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives for emergency department efficiency
- Respond to mass casualty incidents and public health emergencies
Qualifications
- Current Alaska RN license with unrestricted practice status
- Minimum 5 years ED or urgent care triage experience
- BLS, ACLS, TNCC, and ENPC certifications required
- Master's degree in Nursing or related field preferred
- Expertise in interpreting ECGs, lab results, and diagnostic imaging
- Proven crisis management and de-escalation skills
- Experience with Epic or Cerner EMR systems
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts including nights and weekends
