Responsibilities
- Assess and prioritize patient acuity using ESI (Emergency Severity Index) protocols
- Oversee triage team performance and provide mentorship to junior staff
- Collaborate with physicians and specialists on critical patient cases
- Implement and maintain quality improvement initiatives for triage processes
- Manage patient flow during high-volume periods and disaster scenarios
- Conduct comprehensive health assessments and interpret diagnostic results
- Document patient encounters with precision in Epic EHR system
Qualifications
- Active RN license in Louisiana (compact license preferred)
- 5+ years of emergency department experience with 2+ years in triage
- BSN or higher degree (MSN candidates strongly encouraged)
- CEN (Certified Emergency Nurse) or TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) certification
- Advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) and pediatric advanced life support (PALS)
- Proven ability to maintain composure under extreme pressure
- Exceptional communication and conflict resolution skills
