Responsibilities
- Perform rapid patient assessments using ESI (Emergency Severity Index) protocols to determine acuity levels
- Coordinate with physicians, specialists, and ancillary staff for seamless patient flow
- Mentor and train new triage nurses on department protocols and best practices
- Implement electronic health record (EHR) systems for real-time patient tracking
- Develop and maintain departmental triage guidelines in compliance with TJC standards
- Lead quality improvement initiatives for patient wait times and satisfaction metrics
- Participate in emergency preparedness drills and crisis response protocols
Qualifications
- Current California RN license with active BLS/ACLS certifications
- 5+ years of ER/urgent care triage experience with proven acuity assessment skills
- BSN or Master's degree in Nursing (MSN preferred)
- Certification in Emergency Nursing (CEN) or Triage (TNCC/ENPC)
- Expertise in ESI 5-level triage methodology and electronic triage systems
- Strong leadership abilities with experience mentoring nursing staff
- Demonstrated ability to maintain composure during high-volume situations
- Spanish bilingual proficiency highly desirable
