As a key first point of contact, you'll assess patients with acute and non-acute conditions, prioritize care needs, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure timely interventions. This role requires exceptional clinical judgment and the ability to remain calm under pressure in a fast-paced setting.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments using ESI (Emergency Severity Index) protocols
- Prioritize patient triage based on medical urgency and acuity
- Communicate critical information to physicians, nurses, and ancillary staff
- Document clinical findings accurately in electronic health records (EHR)
- Provide patient education on emergency care processes and wait times
- Collaborate with social services to address psychosocial needs
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA and emergency department protocols
Qualifications
- Active RN license in Missouri
- Minimum 2 years emergency department experience
- ACLS/BLS certification required (TNCC preferred)
- Expertise in ESI triage methodology
- Strong assessment skills for diverse patient populations
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts including nights/weekends
- EMR proficiency (Epic experience highly valued)
