Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms, sterilize equipment, and maintain sterile environments per AORN standards
- Assist surgeons during procedures including passing instruments, suturing, and wound closure
- Manage surgical inventory and equipment maintenance for 15+ specialized surgical suites
- Coordinate with anesthesia and nursing teams to ensure seamless surgical workflow
- Adhere to strict safety protocols for sharps handling and biohazardous materials
- Document procedures accurately in electronic health records (Epic systems)
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives for surgical efficiency
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent credential required
- Minimum 2 years recent experience in Level I trauma center OR
- Graduate from accredited Surgical Technology program with externship
- BLS/CPR certification maintained through employment
- Expertise in orthopedic, neuro, or general surgical specialties preferred
- Proficiency in sterile processing and instrument tracking systems
- Ability to stand 8+ hours and lift 50+ pounds regularly
- Strong communication skills in high-pressure environments
