Responsibilities
- Preparation: Prepare operating rooms by arranging instruments, equipment, and supplies, ensuring a sterile environment before surgery begins.
- Assistance: Pass instruments and supplies to surgeons and other personnel during procedures with precision and efficiency.
- Field Maintenance: Maintain sterile field during surgery, anticipating the needs of the surgical team to ensure smooth operations.
- Vital Signs: Monitor and record patient vital signs and other medical information during surgical procedures.
- Specimen Handling: Label, collect, and transport surgical specimens to the laboratory for analysis.
- Patient Care: Assist in moving patients to and from the operating room, ensuring their safety and comfort.
- Documentation: Accurately document surgical counts and procedures as required by hospital policy.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) credential.
- Licensure: Active state license where applicable.
- CPR: Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications required.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in an acute care hospital or surgical setting preferred.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift patients and equipment, and perform repetitive tasks.
- Attention to Detail: Strict adherence to aseptic technique and safety protocols.
