Responsibilities
- Preoperative Preparation: Ensure operating rooms are properly set up with all necessary instruments, supplies, and equipment before surgical procedures begin.
- Instrument Management: Count and inspect surgical instruments and supplies to ensure sterility and accuracy, maintaining strict sterile field protocols.
- Surgical Assistance: Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, retracting tissue, and applying hemostats with precision.
- Patient Safety: Monitor patient vitals and maintain accurate records throughout the surgical process.
- Decontamination: Properly clean, decontaminate, and process surgical instruments and equipment according to health and safety standards.
- Inventory Control: Monitor and restock supply levels to prevent shortages during surgeries.
Qualifications
- Certification: Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) or Surgical First Assistant (SFA) required.
- Licensure: Current Alaska State Surgical Technologist license.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a hospital or surgical center setting preferred.
- CPR Certification: Current BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS certifications.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional ability to focus on details in high-pressure, time-sensitive environments.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to collaborate effectively with the surgical team.
