Responsibilities
- Assist surgeons during operations by anticipating their needs and passing instruments and sterile supplies.
- Prepare operating rooms by setting up instruments, equipment, and supplies.
- Maintain a sterile environment by adhering to strict aseptic techniques and sterilization protocols.
- Monitor patients' vital signs during surgical procedures and report any changes to the nursing team.
- Count sponges, needles, and instruments before and after procedures to ensure zero loss.
- Prepare patients for surgery by washing, shaving, and sterilizing the surgical site.
- Transport patients to and from the operating room using safe handling techniques.
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) with surgical experience.
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a hospital or surgical setting preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent manual dexterity.
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a high-stress team environment.
