Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by sterilizing equipment and arranging surgical instruments
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments and supplies
- Monitor patients' vital signs and sterile field integrity throughout operations
- Apply sterile dressings and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis
- Manage surgical inventory and restock supplies between procedures
- Document all surgical equipment counts and procedure details
- Maintain compliance with OSHA and JCAHO safety standards
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required
- Minimum 2 years of scrub experience in general surgery
- Knowledge of sterile processing and sterilization techniques
- Ability to anticipate surgeon needs during fast-paced procedures
- Strong attention to detail and sterile technique adherence
- BLS certification and current CPR training
- Experience with electronic medical records systems
