Responsibilities
- Assist the Surgical Team: Provide critical assistance to surgeons and nurses during procedures by passing instruments and supplies efficiently.
- Maintain Sterility: Strictly adhere to aseptic technique and sterilization protocols to ensure a safe surgical environment for all patients.
- Prep & Position: Prepare operating rooms, sterilize instruments, and correctly position patients prior to incision.
- Instrument Count: Perform accurate sponge, needle, and instrument counts before, during, and after surgery to ensure patient safety.
- Patient Care: Assist in moving patients to and from the operating room and monitor their vital signs as directed.
- Documentation: Accurately record patient information, procedures, and surgical counts in medical records.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential.
- Licensure: Active state of Wisconsin surgical tech license (if applicable by state regulations).
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in a hospital or ambulatory surgery center setting.
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR): Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods, lift patients, and maneuver heavy equipment safely.
