Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms and sterile fields according to AORN standards
- Assist surgeons during procedures with instrument passing and sterile technique
- Manage surgical equipment and inventory in OR suites
- Transport patients and specimens safely between departments
- Maintain sterile environments and prevent surgical site infections
- Document perioperative activities accurately in EHR systems
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives for OR efficiency
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Certification eligible (CST or NCCT) within 6 months of hire
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift 50 lbs
- Strong attention to detail and sterile technique knowledge
- Basic computer skills for documentation systems
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends/on-call
- Pass background check and drug screening
- Commitment to completing paid training program (8-12 weeks)
