Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by sterilizing equipment, setting up sterile fields, and arranging surgical instruments
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, sutures, and sterile supplies
- Maintain sterile environments and enforce aseptic techniques throughout surgical procedures
- Count sponges, needles, and instruments before, during, and after operations
- Transport patients to and from operating rooms and prepare them for surgery
- Manage inventory and restock surgical supplies in sterile processing areas
- Document procedural details and equipment usage in electronic health records
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent certification required
- Minimum 1 year of experience in an operating room setting
- Knowledge of sterile processing and surgical instrumentation
- Ability to work in fast-paced, high-pressure environments
- Strong attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds
