Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by sterilizing equipment, arranging sterile fields, and setting up surgical instruments
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, holding retractors, and anticipating procedural needs
- Maintain sterile environments and enforce infection control protocols throughout surgical cases
- Count sponges, needles, and instruments before/after procedures to ensure patient safety
- Transport patients to/from operating rooms and position them safely on surgical tables
- Document surgical cases electronically using remote-friendly EHR systems
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize surgical workflow efficiency
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required
- Minimum 2 years of recent operating room experience
- Proficiency in sterile processing and surgical instrument handling
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification maintained
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work in high-pressure environments
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems
- Flexible availability including nights, weekends, and on-call rotations
