Responsibilities
- Prepare sterile fields and surgical instruments for complex procedures
- Assist surgeons during operations with precise instrument passing
- Maintain sterile environments per OSHA and AORN standards
- Count and reconcile surgical sponges, sharps, and instruments
- Transport patients and position them for optimal surgical access
- Manage sterile processing and equipment sterilization protocols
- Document perioperative activities with electronic health records
Qualifications
- Active Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential
- Minimum 2 years recent OR experience
- Expertise in general surgery, orthopedics, and specialty procedures
- BLS/CPR certification maintained
- Familiarity with EHR systems (Epic preferred)
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and stand for 8+ hours
- Exceptional attention to sterile technique and safety protocols
