Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by setting up sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies required for surgical procedures.
- Assist the surgical team by passing instruments and supplies to surgeons during operations.
- Maintain strict sterile field and adhere to aseptic techniques to prevent infection.
- Monitor and document patient vital signs and fluid levels during surgery.
- Count sponges, needles, and instruments before and after procedures to ensure zero counts.
- Prepare patients for surgery by washing, shaving, and positioning them appropriately.
- Assist with patient transport and admission to the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU).
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technician (CST) or Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) credential required.
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a hospital or ambulatory surgery center setting preferred.
- BLS and ACLS certifications must be current.
- Strong knowledge of surgical anatomy and aseptic technique.
- Ability to remain calm and focused under pressure in a high-stakes environment.
- Excellent communication skills and teamwork abilities.
