Responsibilities
- Assist surgeons during operative procedures by passing instruments and materials, ensuring the operating room remains organized and sterile.
- Prepare operating rooms, sterilize equipment, and arrange surgical instruments and supplies.
- Monitor patients' vital signs and respond to any changes in their condition during surgery.
- Maintain strict adherence to aseptic technique and infection control protocols to ensure patient safety.
- Assist with patient positioning, prepping, and draping before procedures.
- Document surgical counts and patient information accurately in medical records.
- Collaborate effectively with the surgical team, including nurses, anesthesiologists, and physicians.
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) credential required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience working in a hospital or surgical setting preferred.
- Strong knowledge of surgical anatomy, instrumentation, and aseptic technique.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs as needed.
- Valid Indiana driver's license and reliable transportation (if required for facility travel).
