Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms and surgical equipment for procedures, ensuring all supplies are available and sterile.
- Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments and sutures, anticipating the surgeon's needs.
- Maintain strict aseptic technique to prevent infection and ensure patient safety.
- Monitor patient vital signs and respond immediately to any changes in condition.
- Handle specimens accurately for lab analysis and sterilize reusable medical instruments.
- Document patient care and surgical procedures accurately in medical records.
- Collaborate effectively with nurses, physicians, and other members of the surgical team.
Qualifications
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) or Certified Surgical Registrar (CSR) is required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of professional experience in a hospital or surgical center setting.
- Strong working knowledge of surgical procedures, anatomy, and sterilization techniques.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift equipment as necessary.
