Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood draws across diverse patient demographics
- Ensure accurate specimen labeling, handling, and processing according to HIPAA protocols
- Maintain sterile techniques and infection control standards in all procedures
- Calibrate and troubleshoot phlebotomy equipment
- Document patient information and test results in electronic health records
- Provide patient education on pre-test preparation procedures
- Collaborate with lab staff for efficient specimen transport and testing
Qualifications
- Current Maryland Phlebotomy Technician certification required
- Minimum 1 year clinical phlebotomy experience
- BLS/CPR certification from recognized provider
- Proficiency in blood collection techniques (pediatric, geriatric, difficult draws)
- Exceptional interpersonal and patient communication skills
- Ability to work flexible shifts including weekends
- Basic knowledge of OSHA and CLIA regulations
- High school diploma or equivalent
