Responsibilities
- Assist the Surgical Team: Prepare operating rooms by setting up sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies according to the surgeon's preferences and surgical procedures.
- Ensure Sterility: Maintain a sterile environment by properly sterilizing surgical instruments and equipment, adhering to strict aseptic techniques.
- Patient Care Support: Assist in positioning patients safely on the operating table and provide necessary support during procedures.
- Instrument Management: Count sponges, needles, and instruments before and after surgery to ensure nothing is left in the patient's body.
- Vital Signs Monitoring: Monitor and record patient vital signs and anesthesia reactions as directed by the anesthesiologist or nurse anesthetist.
- Supply Control: Manage and inventory surgical supplies, ensuring cost-effective usage and availability.
- Documentation: Accurately document surgical procedures and inventory counts as required by hospital policy.
Qualifications
- Certification: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) required.
- Licensure: Current state licensure as a Surgical Technician (if applicable in NJ).
- Education: Graduation from an accredited Surgical Technology program.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a hospital or surgical setting preferred.
- Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, anatomy, and sterilization techniques. Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
