Responsibilities
- Pre-Operative Prep: Prepare operating rooms by arranging sterile equipment and ensuring all supplies are available and functioning correctly.
- Assist Surgeons: Pass instruments and sterile supplies to surgeons during procedures, anticipating their needs to optimize workflow.
- Instrument Management: Count sponges, needles, and instruments before and after surgery to ensure safety and accuracy.
- Sterilization: Maintain strict sterilization protocols for all surgical tools and equipment to prevent infection.
- Patient Care: Monitor patients' vital signs and comfort levels during surgery, providing critical support to the anesthesiology team.
- Documentation: Accurately document patient information and procedures in medical records.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) credential required.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in a hospital or surgical setting preferred.
- Licensure: Valid state licensure where applicable.
- Education: Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
- CPR Certification: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Skills: Strong attention to detail, excellent hand-eye coordination, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
