Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by arranging surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies, ensuring everything is sterile and ready for procedures.
- Assist surgeons and nursing staff during surgical operations by passing instruments and sponges, maintaining a clear surgical field.
- Monitor patient vital signs and report any significant changes to the charge nurse or surgeon immediately.
- Strictly adhere to sterilization and aseptic techniques to prevent infections and ensure patient safety.
- Properly handle and dispose of surgical specimens according to hospital protocols and regulations.
- Transport patients to and from the operating room using safe and efficient handling techniques.
- Document patient information and surgical procedures accurately in the medical record.
Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited Surgical Technology program.
- Current certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or CNA.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a hospital or surgical setting preferred.
- Strong knowledge of surgical anatomy, medical terminology, and aseptic technique.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to remain calm and focused in high-pressure situations.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift patients or equipment as needed.
