Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms with sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies before surgical procedures
- Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments, sutures, and sterile supplies
- Maintain strict aseptic techniques and sterile field integrity throughout procedures
- Count and account for all surgical instruments, sponges, and needles before and after operations
- Transport patients to and from operating rooms while monitoring vital signs
- Manage sterilization processes for reusable surgical instruments and equipment
- Document procedural supplies and equipment usage accurately in electronic health records
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent certification required
- Minimum 1 year of recent surgical tech experience in acute care setting
- Proficiency in multiple surgical specialties (e.g., orthopedic, general, neuro)
- BLS/CPR certification and current TB screening
- Demonstrated knowledge of sterile processing standards (AAMI/ANSI)
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift 50 pounds regularly
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to perform under pressure
- Valid California surgical tech license if applicable
