Responsibilities
- Prepare sterile surgical environments and equipment in accordance with OSHA and AORN standards
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, sutures, and sterile supplies
- Maintain accurate counts of surgical instruments and supplies before, during, and after operations
- Sterilize and maintain surgical instruments and equipment using proper autoclave techniques
- Collaborate with anesthesia and nursing teams to ensure optimal patient care
- Document procedural activities accurately in electronic health records
- Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent certification required
- BLS/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain within 30 days)
- High school diploma or GED
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work in high-pressure environments
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology and surgical procedures
- Pass background check and drug screening
- Valid Texas driver's license (for facility travel)
