Responsibilities
- Assist the surgical team: Prepare operating rooms, arrange equipment, and assist surgeons during procedures.
- Instrument management: Count and inspect surgical instruments, sutures, and sponges to ensure sterility and accuracy.
- Patient care: Position patients safely, maintain sterile fields, and provide sponge and instrument counts.
- Preparation: Dress in sterile scrubs and set up sterile tables with instruments, supplies, and equipment.
- Emergency response: Anticipate surgeon needs and react swiftly in emergency situations.
- Documentation: Accurately log surgical procedures, supplies used, and patient observations.
- Facility maintenance: Ensure the operating room remains clean and organized at all times.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA).
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a hospital or surgical center setting preferred.
- Licensure: Valid BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certifications.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of aseptic technique, surgical procedures, and medical terminology.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional ability to track instruments and maintain a sterile environment.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the surgical team.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy equipment when necessary.
