Responsibilities
- Prepare sterile surgical fields and equipment for complex procedures
- Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments and maintaining hemostasis
- Implement strict infection control protocols and sterile processing standards
- Manage surgical inventory and equipment sterilization cycles
- Coordinate patient transport and pre/post-operative care workflows
- Document procedures accurately and maintain electronic health records
- Train new staff on OR protocols and emergency response procedures
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required
- Minimum 2 years of recent OR experience in general surgery
- BLS/CPR certification with current ACLS preferred
- Expertise in sterilization techniques (AORN standards)
- Strong knowledge of surgical instrumentation and equipment
- Ability to thrive in fast-paced, high-pressure environments
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Background in orthopedic or cardiovascular surgery a plus
