Responsibilities
- Prepare and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment according to strict protocols
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments and supplies
- Maintain sterile field integrity and enforce aseptic techniques
- Count sponges, needles, and instruments before/after surgeries
- Operate specialized equipment including endoscopic devices and robotic systems
- Document procedural activities accurately in electronic health records
- Coordinate with anesthesia and circulating nurses for seamless workflow
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent certification required
- Minimum 2 years recent surgical tech experience in acute care setting
- Knowledge of OSHA and AORN standards for sterile processing
- Experience with major surgical subspecialties (ortho, neuro, general)
- Ability to work efficiently in high-pressure emergency situations
- Strong attention to detail and exceptional manual dexterity
- Current BLS certification from AHA or equivalent
