Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by setting up sterile fields, instruments, and equipment according to surgical protocols
- Assist surgeons and nurses during procedures by passing instruments, retracting tissues, and handling equipment
- Maintain strict sterile environments throughout surgical procedures to prevent infections
- Perform accurate sponge, instrument, and needle counts pre- and post-procedure
- Prepare and transport patients to/from operating rooms while ensuring comfort and safety
- Clean, sterilize, and maintain surgical equipment following established protocols
- Document surgical events and inventory usage with precision
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required
- Minimum 2 years of recent OR experience in acute care setting
- Proficiency in sterile processing and aseptic technique
- Knowledge of surgical instruments and equipment maintenance
- Ability to work efficiently in high-pressure emergency situations
- Strong communication skills for interdisciplinary collaboration
- Current BLS/CPR certification
- Flexibility to work various shifts including weekends and on-call
