Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by sterilizing equipment, arranging instruments, and verifying surgical supplies
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, sutures, and sterile supplies
- Maintain sterile fields and enforce aseptic techniques throughout surgical procedures
- Count sponges, needles, and instruments before/after operations to prevent retention
- Transport patients to/from operating rooms and position them for optimal surgical access
- Manage surgical equipment sterilization and maintenance protocols
- Document procedural details accurately in electronic health records
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent certification required
- Minimum 2 years of recent experience in general surgery or specialty OR setting
- Graduation from accredited surgical technology program
- Knowledge of sterile processing and infection control protocols
- Ability to work efficiently in high-pressure, fast-paced environments
- Strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills
- Current BLS/CPR certification
- Experience with robotic surgical systems preferred
