Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms, sterile fields, and surgical equipment according to procedure-specific protocols
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, sutures, and supplies
- Maintain sterile environments and enforce aseptic techniques throughout surgical cases
- Count sponges, needles, and instruments before/after procedures
- Coordinate with anesthesia and nursing teams for optimal patient flow
- Manage inventory and sterilization of surgical instruments
- Document procedural activities accurately in electronic health records
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required
- Minimum 2 years of recent surgical tech experience in Level I trauma center
- Experience in orthopedic, general, and neurosurgical procedures
- Proficiency with electronic documentation systems (EPIC preferred)
- BLS certification and ability to stand for extended periods
- Strong knowledge of sterile processing and OSHA compliance
- Excellent communication skills and ability to remain calm in emergencies
