Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms for surgical procedures by arranging instruments, equipment, and supplies.
- Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments and other sterile supplies.
- Maintain a sterile environment by adhering to aseptic techniques and sterilization protocols.
- Count sponges, needles, and instruments to maintain accountability for all items used during surgery.
- Monitor patient vital signs and report any significant changes to the nursing staff or surgeon immediately.
- Transport patients to and from the operating suite with safety and comfort in mind.
- Ensure all surgical equipment is functioning correctly and properly sterilized after each use.
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or similar certification required.
- Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a hospital or surgical setting preferred.
- Strong understanding of sterile techniques and surgical asepsis.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
