Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms for surgical procedures by arranging sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies.
- Assist surgeons and nurses during surgery by passing instruments and sterile products.
- Monitor and maintain aseptic technique throughout the surgical procedure.
- Count sponges, needles, and instruments to ensure nothing is left in the surgical wound.
- Prepare patients for surgery by positioning them and washing and sterilizing incision sites.
- Handle specimens for analysis and transport specimens to the laboratory.
- Provide post-operative care by transferring patients to the recovery room and monitoring their vital signs.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) required.
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification through the American Heart Association.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a hospital or surgical center setting preferred.
- Strong knowledge of surgical anatomy and sterilization techniques.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work well under pressure.
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
