Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by arranging sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies, ensuring everything is functioning correctly.
- Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments and materials, holding retractors, and counting sponges and needles to maintain accurate counts.
- Monitor sterile field and patient safety, anticipating the surgeon's needs to ensure smooth procedure flow.
- Handle specimens accurately, labeling them appropriately for analysis.
- Transport patients to and from the operating suite with care and attention to comfort.
- Dispose of contaminated supplies and sterilize instruments and equipment for reuse.
- Adhere to all hospital policies, protocols, and safety standards.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) or Surgical First Assistant (CS) required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a hospital or surgical setting preferred.
- Strong knowledge of surgical anatomy, aseptic technique, and sterilization procedures.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
