Responsibilities
- Preparation: Prepare operating rooms for surgery by arranging sterile equipment and supplies, and ensuring a safe environment.
- Assistance: Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments and sterile goods, anticipating their needs.
- Sterile Field: Maintain a sterile field throughout the surgical procedure, adhering to strict aseptic techniques.
- Counts: Perform accurate counts of sponges, needles, and instruments before, during, and after surgery.
- Patient Care: Monitor patients' vital signs and report any changes to the surgical team immediately.
- Sanitization: Clean and disinfect operating rooms and surgical instruments after procedures.
- Documentation: Accurately record patient data and surgical interventions.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA).
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a hospital or surgical setting preferred.
- Licensure: Active state licensure (e.g., RST in California).
- CPR: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
- Education: Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of surgical anatomy, sterile technique, and operating room protocols.
- Soft Skills: Excellent communication, teamwork, and ability to work under pressure.
