Responsibilities
- Pre-Operative Preparation: Prepare operating rooms and sterilize instruments and equipment to ensure a safe and sterile environment for all procedures.
- Assist Surgeons: Pass instruments and supplies to surgeons during operations, anticipating their needs to ensure a smooth workflow.
- Sterile Field Maintenance: Maintain a sterile field throughout surgical procedures, adhering strictly to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques.
- Patient Care Support: Assist in positioning patients, applying drapes, and monitoring patient vitals as directed by the Registered Nurse or Anesthesiologist.
- Equipment Management: Verify and check equipment functionality and manage inventory of sterile supplies efficiently.
- Post-Operative Care: Assist in the transfer of patients to the recovery room and ensure the operating room is returned to a clean and organized state.
Qualifications
- Certification: Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) from the NBSTSA or equivalent.
- Licensure: Current and valid Surgical Technologist license in the state of Wisconsin.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in a hospital or surgical center setting preferred.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a high-stress environment.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift patients, and perform physical tasks required during surgeries.
- Technology Proficiency: Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) and modern surgical technology systems.
