Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by sterilizing equipment, setting up sterile fields, and arranging instruments
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, holding retractors, and counting supplies
- Maintain sterile environments and enforce infection control protocols throughout surgical cases
- Transport patients and specimens between operating rooms and ancillary departments
- Manage surgical inventory, including restocking and ordering supplies
- Document procedural activities accurately in electronic health records
- Participate in departmental quality improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- No prior surgical tech experience necessary
- Completion of accredited Surgical Technology program OR willingness to complete within 6 months
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (provided upon hire)
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds
- Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity
- Pass background check and drug screening
- Must be able to work flexible hours including weekends and call rotations
