Responsibilities
- Assist surgeons and nursing staff during surgical procedures by passing instruments and sterile supplies.
- Prepare operating rooms, equipment, and instruments for surgical procedures.
- Monitor and maintain a sterile field during operations to prevent infection.
- Count sponges, needles, and instruments before and after procedures to ensure safety.
- Transport patients to and from the operating suite and assist with patient positioning.
- Prepare tissue specimens for laboratory analysis.
- Ensure all surgical equipment is functioning correctly and report any malfunctions.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program (or current enrollment with intent to graduate).
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills and teamwork abilities.
- Basic computer literacy for electronic documentation.
- Physical stamina to stand for long periods and assist with patient mobility.
- Ability to obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire.
