Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms, sterilize equipment, and arrange surgical instruments according to procedure protocols
- Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments, holding retractors, and managing sterile fields
- Monitor inventory levels and ensure all surgical supplies are properly stocked and maintained
- Adhere to strict aseptic techniques and infection control standards at all times
- Document procedural activities accurately and maintain comprehensive patient care records
- Collaborate with anesthesia and nursing teams to ensure seamless surgical workflows
- Respond efficiently to emergency situations while maintaining composure under pressure
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required
- Minimum 1 year of recent surgical tech experience in a hospital setting
- Proficiency in handling general surgery, orthopedic, and specialty instrumentation
- Current BLS certification with willingness to obtain ACLS if needed
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds safely
- Strong attention to detail and exceptional sterile technique skills
- Excellent communication abilities and teamwork orientation
- Flexibility to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and on-call
