Responsibilities
- Assist surgeons and nursing staff during surgical procedures by preparing and maintaining the sterile field.
- Ensure all surgical instruments, sutures, and supplies are available and accounted for.
- Monitor and maintain strict aseptic technique throughout the operation.
- Handle specimens and biological waste in accordance with hospital protocols.
- Transport patients to and from the operating room and recovery areas safely.
- Document patient information and surgical counts accurately.
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or CAAHEP accredited graduation.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a hospital or ambulatory surgery center setting.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift patients or equipment up to 50 lbs.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to perform under high-pressure situations.
- Valid Virginia state licensure or eligibility for licensure.
