Responsibilities

  • Prepare operating rooms for surgeries, including sterilizing equipment and arranging medical instruments.
  • Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments and supplies, maintaining a sterile field.
  • Count sponges, needles, and instruments before and after procedures to ensure patient safety.
  • Prepare patients for surgery by positioning them properly and washing and sterilizing their surgical site.
  • Monitor the operating room environment and alert the surgical team to any irregularities.
  • Transport patients to and from the operating suite with care and precision.
  • Document surgical procedures and supplies used accurately.

Qualifications

  • Certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or completion of an accredited surgical technology program.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in an acute care or surgical setting preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of aseptic technique and surgical procedures.
