Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain sterile surgical environments, equipment, and instrumentation
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments and supplies
- Monitor sterile field integrity and enforce aseptic techniques
- Handle surgical specimens with precision and documentation accuracy
- Operate specialized equipment like endoscopic cameras and robotic systems
- Collaborate with anesthesia and nursing teams for coordinated patient care
- Participate in departmental quality improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required
- Minimum 2 years of recent OR experience in scrub role
- Current BLS/CPR certification
- Expert knowledge of sterile processing and sterilization methods
- Ability to anticipate surgeon needs in high-pressure situations
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Flexibility to cover various surgical specialties (ortho, neuro, general)
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems
