Responsibilities
- Assist the Surgical Team: Provide critical support to surgeons and nurses during procedures by passing instruments and sterile supplies efficiently.
- Maintain Sterile Field: Strictly adhere to aseptic technique protocols to prevent infection and ensure a safe surgical environment.
- Prep Operating Rooms: Set up operating tables with necessary instruments, sutures, and supplies prior to surgery.
- Instrument Counts: Perform meticulous sponge, needle, and instrument counts before, during, and after procedures to ensure zero loss.
- Patient Preparation: Assist in preparing patients for surgery, including shaving, skin prep, and draping.
- Facilitate Communication: Act as a liaison between the surgical team and other departments to ensure seamless operations.
- Stock Management: Monitor inventory levels of sterile supplies and restock as necessary to prevent delays.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent certification required.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a hospital or outpatient surgical setting preferred.
- Licensure: Active BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS certification required.
- Technical Skills: Strong understanding of surgical anatomy, sterile techniques, and surgical procedures.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Teamwork: Proven ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
