Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood draws across diverse patient populations
- Process, label, and transport specimens accurately to laboratory departments
- Maintain sterile techniques and adhere to OSHA/Bloodborne Pathogen protocols
- Verify patient identity and provide clear instructions before procedures
- Calibrate and troubleshoot phlebotomy equipment
- Document all procedures and patient interactions in EMR systems
- Collaborate with nursing staff to optimize patient flow
Qualifications
- Current Michigan Phlebotomy Technician certification required
- Minimum 1 year clinical experience in acute care setting
- Proficiency in venipuncture, capillary puncture, and specimen handling
- BLS/CPR certification from AHA or equivalent
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with diverse patient populations
- Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced environments
- High school diploma or equivalent required
