Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms, sterilize equipment, and maintain sterile environments per OSHA standards
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, sutures, and sterile supplies
- Anticipate procedural needs and maintain accurate surgical counts
- Manage sterile fields and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions
- Document procedural activities accurately in electronic health records
- Collaborate with anesthesia and nursing teams for seamless patient care
- Participate in departmental quality improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent credential required
- Minimum 1 year recent experience in general surgery or specialty OR
- BLS/CPR certification and current state licensure
- Proficiency in sterile processing and surgical instrumentation
- Ability to work flexible hours including nights/weekends
- Strong communication skills and team collaboration ability
- Knowledge of HIPAA compliance and patient safety protocols
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift 50+ lbs
