Responsibilities
- Conduct rapid patient assessments using ESI (Emergency Severity Index) protocols
- Collaborate with physicians to determine patient acuity levels and care pathways
- Maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR) with real-time documentation
- Provide patient/family education on triage processes and next steps
- Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams for optimal resource allocation
- Implement infection control and safety protocols in all triage interactions
- Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- Active RN license in Texas (or compact state eligibility)
- Minimum 2 years ED or urgent care experience
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
- Proficiency with EHR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner)
- Excellent communication and crisis management skills
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts including nights/weekends
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- TEN or ESI triage certification highly desirable
