Responsibilities
- Assess patient acuity using ESI (Emergency Severity Index) protocols within 5 minutes of arrival
- Collaborate with physicians to prioritize care for high-risk patients including cardiac, stroke, and pediatric emergencies
- Maintain accurate electronic health records (Epic EMR) with real-time documentation
- Provide clear discharge instructions and follow-up coordination for lower-acuity cases
- Mentor new nurses on triage best practices and emergency department workflows
- Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives for patient flow optimization
Qualifications
- Active RN license in Texas (TX RN)
- Minimum 3 years emergency department experience
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
- Proficiency with triage assessment tools (ESI, Manchester Triage)
- Demonstrated ability to remain calm under pressure during critical situations
- Strong communication skills with diverse patient populations
- Experience with Epic EMR preferred
