Responsibilities
- Conduct rapid patient assessments using the Emergency Severity Index (ESI) protocol
- Triage incoming patients based on acuity level and medical necessity
- Coordinate with physicians, specialists, and ancillary departments for timely interventions
- Document assessments and care plans in electronic health records with 100% accuracy
- Provide emergency care stabilization for life-threatening conditions
- Educate patients and families on emergency department processes and wait times
- Maintain compliance with JCAHO, HIPAA, and Florida Board of Nursing regulations
Qualifications
- Active RN license in the State of Florida
- Minimum 3 years emergency department or urgent care experience
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
- BSN or higher degree preferred
- Proficiency in ESI triage methodology and electronic medical records
- Exceptional critical thinking and decision-making abilities
- Strong communication skills in both English and Spanish
- Ability to remain calm under pressure during high-volume situations
