Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive initial patient assessments to determine acuity and urgency of medical conditions.
- Utilize the Canadian Triage and Acuity Scale (CTAS) or equivalent protocols to prioritize patient flow.
- Educate patients and families on diagnosis, treatment plans, and preventative care strategies.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurse practitioners, and support staff to optimize patient outcomes.
- Document patient interactions, symptoms, and triage decisions accurately in electronic health records (EHR).
- Manage high-volume patient queues and de-escalate potentially volatile situations with professional composure.
Qualifications
- Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Texas.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in emergency nursing, urgent care, or triage settings.
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certifications.
- Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with electronic medical record systems (Epic, Cerner, etc.).
