Responsibilities
- Conduct rapid and comprehensive patient assessments to determine medical acuity levels and urgency.
- Provide expert triage advice, treatment recommendations, and discharge instructions via phone or in-person.
- Document all patient interactions, medical histories, and triage decisions accurately in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
- Collaborate closely with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare staff to coordinate patient care plans.
- Manage patient flow effectively, ensuring that resources are allocated based on critical need.
- Educate patients on preventative health measures and management of chronic conditions.
- Remain calm and composed under pressure, making sound clinical judgments in high-stress situations.
Qualifications
- Valid and active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of New York.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in emergency medicine, urgent care, or triage nursing.
- Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills with the ability to prioritize multiple requests simultaneously.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex medical concepts clearly.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner, Meditech).
