Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive initial assessments of patients to accurately evaluate symptoms and determine the urgency of care needs.
- Apply clinical judgment and triage protocols to prioritize patient flow and ensure critical cases receive immediate attention.
- Document patient history, chief complaints, and triage assessments accurately and securely within the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
- Communicate effectively with physicians, advanced practice providers, and nursing staff to facilitate seamless care transitions.
- Provide clear, empathetic, and educational guidance to patients regarding symptom management, home care, and follow-up appointments.
- Manage incoming phone queues and patient inquiries to maintain optimal departmental workflow and high patient satisfaction scores.
- Monitor vital signs and patient status to detect changes that require immediate medical intervention.
Qualifications
- Current and active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of California.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of clinical nursing experience, with specific experience in triage or urgent care preferred.
- Certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) required.
- Strong proficiency in navigating Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to de-escalate sensitive patient situations.
- Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
